Why Is Goal Setting Like Getting Married?

Hi everyone

When you are initially made redundant, it can be hard to think about your future, to come up with a plan for it, and to set goals. However, in order to move forward with your life, that is exactly what you need to do. Here is some good advice on how to make goals stick.

Those of you that know me personally will also know that I’m not adverse to getting out a camera at the weekend and tagging along with my husband Brett Trafford to photograph a wedding.  We were at a wedding last Friday and it started me thinking about how working with your goals is a bit like getting married, yet it so much easier to divorce our goals than our spouses.

My VVW approach to goal setting is simple and could help prevent you from divorcing your goals.

Vows – Make a commitment to yourself as you would your future spouse.  During the ceremony the couple promised so much to each other and are unlikely to break them.  Ask yourself why you find it so easy to break promises to yourself?

Value – When entering into a marriage we value the thoughts and opinions of our loved one.  Its equally important…

When Opportunity Knocks – Don’t Close The Door

Hi everyone

Are you currently unemployed? Do you think you would like to run your own business? Are you asking yourself, have I got what it takes to become a self-employed businessman/business woman?

If you answered yes to one or more of these questions, there is no better opportunity of finding out if you are suitable to run your own business, than enquiring about the New Enterprise Scheme and attending an Enterprise Club Start-up Training Course. To learn more about what the course has to offer, read my guest blog article “Have you got the guts to run your own business?’ on Sage One uk.sageone.com/2013/08/23/guts-to-run-your-own-business. The course is free and if you don’t want to go on the New Enterprise Allowance after you have completed the course, you don’t have to but you will receive lots of invaluable information that is vital to starting your own business. When opportunity knocks, don’t close the door.

As always, terms and conditions to attend the course and be able to have the New Enterprise Allowance, do apply.

Let me know if the blog article for Sage One is helpful?

Launch of beatredundancyblues.co.uk

Hi everyone

I am pleased to announce that beatredundancyblues.co.uk is now officially launched.

beatredundancyblues.co.uk is very similar in content to beatredundancyblues.com with access to Job Sites, Recruitment Sites and Courses Sites, from within the one site. The difference with the .co.uk version, is there is much more opportunity for interaction with you. Let me know what you like about the site and any further help and support you need through your comments and feedback.

As you may be aware from my last post, I recently went to London on Monday 15th of July to meet Her Majesty the Queen and I had the opportunity to speak to her. You can read the full story on my writing blog at http://www.quirkybooks.wordpress.com This was for the CSV 50th Jubilee Celebration. I started working as a Health Buddy for Community Service Volunteers whilst being unemployed and look at where it has led to.

I know redundancy can be difficult and if anyone had said to me when I was first made redundant, that I would be meeting and speaking with HM the Queen in a few years time, I would have laughed and not believed them. When I was made redundant for the second time, my attitude towards what is possible in life, began to change and now I believe that anything is possible. The more I believe that, the more impossibles do become possible. It all starts with baby steps of stretching yourself, your knowledge and your experience. My Grandma says there is no such word as can’t and if you don’t believe there to be, then that is true. Start believing that your dreams can become a reality and then take steps to make it happen.

beatredundancyblues.co.uk Coming Soon

Hi Everyone

I am mega busy at the moment creating my beatredundancyblues.co.uk website, it will be very similar to beatredundancyblues.com with all of your favourite information pages but with a blog added for much more interaction with you. This way you can let me know what you like and what you don’t and what other help and support you need in your quest to find employment.

Watch this space for the official launch of beatredundancyblues.co.uk

My web host who hosts beatredundancyblues.com has decided to stop people from using RVSiteBuilder  to build any new website by removing it from their system. As my site is built using this, I now have to get access to my site admin panel through a link. I was informed that eventually the RVSiteBuilder will be dis-continued completely. beatredundancyblues.co.uk was due to be launched at the end of this year but in light of this new challenge, I am creating it now and transferring it’s valuable information over to beatredundancyblues.co.uk. I have to do this manually and re-format it before adding it to the new WordPress.Org site for beatredundancyblues.co.uk

For those of you who are not familiar with beatredundancyblues.com and what is is about, here is an except from it:

This website is designed to give you easy access to a wealth of knowledge, experience and skills needed to survive redundancy and get back into work. No longer do you have to trawl through website after website trying to find the information you want, you can get it all here at the click of a button.

Make your job search easier by getting instant access to these sites at the click of a button. Find an area that interests you and get right to it.
This website is essential for anyone who is:

  1. Redundant
  2. Unemployed
  3. Changing Career
  4. Job Hunting
  5. Lacking In Direction
  6. Wanting Motivation
  7. Needing Help
  8. Looking For Support

I have to say that using WordPress.org compared to the .com version has been far more challenging than I thought it would be. What experience have you had with the .org version compared to the .com? Have you got any advice or hints and tips on how to get the best out of using the .org version?

On thursday this week, I am going to an awards ceremony by the police to be awarded a Good Citizens Award. I feel honoured and humbled to be getting the award and thought I would let you know.

What Does Success Mean To You?

Hi Everyone

Success comes in all forms, shapes and sizes.

In order to be successful, you have to first work out:

  • What success means to you?
  • What success will do for you?
  • What you envisage success to look like?

Only when you are able to answer these 3 questions, will you be able to map out your own path to success.

To you, success could mean:

  • Owning your own home
  • Being able to put food on the table
  • Running your own business
  • Writing your life story
  • Having a family of your own
  • Having a good network of friends for support
  • Working in your dream job
  • Fulfilling your ambitions
  • Getting up in the morning pain-free
  • Being able to create things

Or it could be a combination of all, or some, of the above.

Whilst you are redundant, it is a great time to discover what success means to you, because if you don’t, you will never feel satisfied but feel like there is something missing from your life or that you are a failure.

Knowing what success means to you, is the first step on your path to achieving it.

Don’t waste any more time feeling like a failure but instead put your time and energy into writing a list of what success means to you and then prioritise them in the order of most importance and set goals to achieve each and every one of them. As you do this, you will be growing into your own success and moving along the path to lead a more fulfilling existence and a happier you.

So what are you waiting for?

Until next time, stay positive.
