Beat redundancy blues – Start living!

Every so often, I like to share with you, one of my posts from my http://www.quirkybooks.wordpress.com blog, that I think is relevant to you.

I wanted to share this with you because having been made redundant twice myself, I know how hard it can be and how depressing it can feel. Life does throw some spanners in our works and it can be difficult to see the light. In order to feel alive again, we must endevour to get back to living the life that makes us feel alive, regardless of previous circumstances or what works for others. Today is a new day, treat it as a new opportunity to feel alive.

Thanks for all of your kind comments and support during this difficult time of my Grandma’s passing. Her funeral was yesterday and it went well considering it was a funeral. I read my entire poem without stumbling on my words. Being quirky, I made sure it was a funeral with a difference. I went around hugging everyone, including the people carrying the coffin, the guy playing the organ, the Funeral Director, the Vicar and all guests. I even had the Birdie Song playing us out of the crematorium. Me and my Grandma used to dance to that together and do the actions.

I used to suffer with depression and thankfully I have been free of it for about two and a half years. I cured myself, and still maintain a good head through sometimes very quirky, unconventional methods. I am well aware that I have to prevent myself from going back to that dreadful place ever again. I believe life is for living, to the fullest. Although my Grandma has passed, in the rest of my life, I am the happiest I have ever been and so grateful to be living a young life. In my mind, I am getting younger and I love it. I believe in order to feel alive, you must start living. Do things that make you feel fantastic, alive, enthusiastic, excited and passionate, over and over again, and never stop. I live in my own quirky magic bubble and so long as I am in that, life is beautiful.

My Grandma loved living a full and active life. Today is a new month and time for me to start living a new life. What wonderful opportunities will come my way? I wonder? After crying a lot this morning, this is the attitude I decided to take and I went to the cinema to feel alive and enjoy a part of my life in that moment.

In my usual quirky Roving Reporter style, here is my review of Maleficent. It is less that one minute long. Enjoy it and let me know what you think.

I am currently working on reformatting the interior of my Break through the barriers of redundancy book. It would seem that the CreateSpace templates have errors in them. One template I had 5 attempts to reformat and I had to scrap each one. Self publishing is hard but I am determined to publish my book.

Your redundancy is a minor setback

Hi everyone

Your redundancy is a minor setback on the path to fulfilling your dreams. It is a bump in the road.

Treat the path ahead of you, as a wonderful new adventure.

Smell the fresh air.
Look up to the stars.
Let life radiate its beauty and surround you with love, joy and happiness.

Begin afresh, embrace the new, life is about living and looking forward too.

Realise that you have the power to create an amazing future for yourself.

Listen to your heart’s desires, needs and wants. Nourish the creativity of your brain. Empower yourself to always feel great about you.

See the good in yourself and banish the bad from your life. Be around positive people, places and things that make you happy. Enjoy every minute of time.

You are no longer left behind, you are in charge and leading the way ahead.

Live life to the fullest and be true to who you are. Be the greatest you, that there can be. No one is better at being you, than yourself.

How To Overcome Feelings Of Depression – You Are The World’s Greatest

Hi everyone

Whilst being redundant, depression can rear it’s ugly head.

One of the ways of overcoming feelings of depression, is to lift your mood by changing your state of being. You can do this through:

  • Movement – Such as dancing or playing sport
  • Looking – Watching an action movie
  • Listening – To music
  • Touching – Stroking a pet

All of these should distract your mind and take your focus off your unwanted thoughts.

Depression is a state of mind that manifests itself into your state of being. Your being responds by harvesting unhappy emotions, feelings and thoughts. You need to pinpoint the cause of your depression and literally cut back on it or cut it out completely from your life. Metaphorically speaking – It is like mould that attacks fruit, once it gets hold, it will continue to spread.  You can either cut it out and eat the rest, which may still be infected, or you can throw it away for good and never go near it again. Obviously you would never physically cut yourself, as that is wrong and not what I am saying.

Along with changing your state of being, you need to increase your self-confidence and self-esteem. You need to counteract all of the negative comments from others and from yourself, by speaking only positive words to yourself, over and over again. You must ban yourself from using any negative words.

You need to view obstacles as challenges and be blessed for what you have.

Always tell yourself – You are the world’s greatest.

I Have Been Chosen To Meet Her Majesty The Queen

Hi everyone

I am very happy and excited to have been chosen to meet Her Majesty the Queen, at St James’s Palace, on Monday 15th of July.

For those of you who follow me on Twitter, on Facebook or on my other blog http://www.quirkybooks.wordpress.com, you may already know this and a few of you I have mentioned it to in my comments. For the rest of my lovely blog followers, the last update I gave you, was that I had been invited to St James’s Palace in the presence of HM the Queen. I have since had a letter to say I have been chosen to meet HM the Queen.

I have been sent a map of the inside of the Palace and have been told I am group 10, in the Queen Anne Room, to meet the Queen.

There is a red dotted line to indicate which route HM the Queen will take.

There are instructions of what I should say and do when I meet HM the Queen.

I am going there, to celebrate CSV (Community Service Volunteers) 50th anniversary. I do voluntary work as a Health Buddy for CSV and got nominated by my Manager to go.

If someone had told me a few years ago, that in the future I would be meeting HM the Queen at St James’s Palace, I would have laughed and said they had a vivid imagination, or yes, in my dreams. But I did something very important in my life, I changed my attitude and my belief in myself.

When I was made redundant for the second time in my life, in 2009, this was the starting point of that change. I knew from then on, that I was born 100% to write and to help others who have been made redundant to get back into work. It was the start of my creative journey. However, needing money and taking on a succession of temporary jobs, that I wasn’t happy in, took it’s toll, and although I still had these goals in mind, I didn’t do much about them at that time.

By the end of 2009, I got a job as an Assistant Manager of a shop and a couple of months later I was promoted to Shop Manager. The drawback was, most weeks I would be working 60 hours a week instead of my contracted 40.

In October 2010, I got headhunted to work as a Sales Person for more money doing less hours and so I took it. After almost a year of working there, I decided to take a year out from work, to develop myself, my skills, my knowledge and expertise to grow as a person and to finally fulfil my destiny of writing and helping others to get back into work. During that time, I gained all of those and so much more.

Although I am working again in a retail sales job during the day, I have chosen to be in a job as a Sales Person not as a Manager, so my hours are stable and kept to a minimum. The pay is not great but I can focus on building two businesses around my two goals during the evenings and my time off. I now know what action to take to make progress with those two goals. I still have time to do courses and to develop myself as a person. I am continuing on the path to fulfil my dreams and you can do it too. I am living proof that dreams can come true. Never, ever, give up on your own dreams. Believe they are achievable and that anything is possible.

Be blessed with what you have,
fight for what you want,
believe in yourself,
helps others along the way,
take action,
change when you are able to
and never look back.

Keep looking forward because your future is in your hands.
Treat yourself kindly,
look after those who are important in your life,
allow yourself ups and downs,
you are only human.
Above all, love yourself, live life to the max and do what makes you happy over and over again.

Some Like It Hot – Make Yourself Feel Good

Hi everyone

Redundancy can leave you feeling lost, lonely and hurt. Just like when you break up from a familiar relationship, it can be hard to find the motivation to go on with your life because of the pain you feel inside. You need to recognise this as part of the grieving process and start to think of ways that you can make yourself feel better. It is imperative you focus your mind on looking after you.

Write a list of a minimum of 10 things that make you smile, happy, laugh or simply feel good. It could be:

  • Taking a hot bath
  • Going for a walk
  • Speaking to a friend
  • Stroking a pet
  • Cooking a meal
  • Lighting candles around your home
  • Going to the cinema
  • Playing sport
  • Reading a book
  • Renting a movie at home
  • Eating a food treat

Whatever it is, make time for yourself to do as many of those things as often as possible, at least once a week. The more frequent you do things from your feel good list , the more you will feel positive about yourself, your life and your future.
