When you are feeling down it’s a good idea to take your mind off things. One of the ways you can beat your redundancy blues, is to do something different and have a Guinea Pig or Pet Party! If you haven’t got pets, you could throw one for a neighbour or friend’s pet, with their permission. Or have a party for any kids you may have, or go out yourself and just have fun.

Don’t be afraid to be emotional – It’s good for you!

Don’t be afraid to be emotional and to let your emotions out. There is nothing to be ashamed of. In fact, being emotional, can be good for you.
When you feel an emotion, but keep it locked inside you, that is in effect, exactly what you are doing. You are embedding it deep within your soul, and that is no good for anyone.
If you talk whilst angry, it’s not good, but sometimes being angry, in the moment, gets the feeling of anger out and you can calm down quickly. Notice, I said talk.
If you need to scream, scream, just try not to scream at someone. At worse, they will never speak to you again, at best, you will need to apologise. Try saying – I feel angry right now.
If you love someone and wished you didn’t anymore, by fighting it and giving yourself a hard time about it, the feelings of love and longing for that person, can intensify and linger. In order to free yourself from the feeling of love, you must first accept that you do love, by allowing yourself to feel it, however difficult and horrid that may be.
If life is getting you down and you feel like crying, just do it. By holding your tears in, you can’t get them out and no good feelings can get in.
Allowing yourself to feel negative emotions, in the moment, such as pain, anger, hurt or grief, enables you to get over them faster and feel better quicker.
Of course, being emotional can be a positive experience. It can help you to feel other’s pain; to empathise and sympathise. It can facilitate a deep and meaningful existence and relationship with others.
Being emotional can be fantastic for a career in writing, because it lets you to get into the mind, soul and spirit, of your characters, so they can lead you to tell their story.
Being emotional, makes us human and that’s a fantastic thing.
So next time someone says to you – you are so emotional. Take it as a compliment. Say, I know it’s great. It’s wonderful to feel alive and be able to connect with others in a profound way. Don’t run from your emotions, but embrace them.
Embrace every quirky thing about you and remember how being emotional, can be good for you.
You Have a Way About You – Your Own Quirky Way!
You have a way about you, that is unique to you, and your way of being. It’s your own quirky way, no one else’s.
Don’t worry about conforming and fitting in, be concerned with your own inner being and who you are.
If this is new territory to you, to stand proudly of yourself; it may be difficult at first because you are asserting your right to be an individual and to be treated as such.
To remain strong when sometimes family, friends and even love ones are pulling you in their direction, takes guts, willpower and determination. This is especially true if you have recently experienced a loss, such as your job.
However, when you have lost something, is the best time to find you. To find your inner being, the roots of your tree, and embed them in the earth. You; your thoughts, your actions, can be controlled by you. In a time when everything else may feel out of control, this can be extremely good for you.
When you assert yourself and others aren’t used to it and don’t like it; if they love you for who you are, they will still love you, care about you, talk to you and be friends with you. They will either get used to the new you and accept it, or they have the right to go their own way. If they go their own way, remember, you have a way with you, that is called your way for a reason. You are your own person. It’s better to be you than live as others would have you live and never be truly happy.
Whatever your background, culture, race, colour, religion, sexual orientation or other, you need to be true to you.
I communicate with people from around the globe. I see the difference between people who are blending in with their society’s expectations, their familiy’s traditions and cultural expectations, when it’s not what they truly want for themselves. They sacrifice their own needs for others; even to the point where they can’t be themselves or with the ones they love, forever. So they settle for what they can get or what they get given. They think they have no choice, but there is always a choice. Compare that to those seemingly in a minority, who come out as themselves; go their own way, but feel an inner contentment and peace, after weathering the storm. They choose to start their own life, how they choose to be, and feel alive and sometimes reborn because of it.
I love my parents dearly but I am extremely different to them. For years I wanted their appproval of what I did, of what I wanted, and to be accepted for being me. I break family traditions, conventions and some expectations. It is hard, but the more I am strong and go my own way, the more they seem to understand the real me and accept it. Whether they do or they don’t, I have a quiky way about me, that’s my own. I am my authentic self, and I like me just the way I am.
That’s why you were born as you. You were given your own brain, to think, your own body to look after, your own eyes to view the world; your own ears to listen and your own voice to speak. The way you sense the world around you, will never be identical to another. You have a way about you. Don’t turn the other way, away from yourself, your needs, wants and desires, go and get them.
Don’t let life cycle by – Take Action Now to Fufil Your Dreams
Don’t let life cycle by, take action now, to fufil your dreams.
Each and every second of life that passes us by, is a second gone forever.
Ask yourself this question. If you only had 24 hours left to live, how would you spend that time and who with?
Can you honestly say that you have lived your life, in a way which is authentic to you?
Can you honestly say that you have achieved everything in your life, that you have ever wanted to achieve?
Have you got:
● The right job for you?
● The right lifestyle for you?
● The right environment for you?
● The right life partner for you?
● The right you, for you?
Don’t let life cycle by. A cycle is a cycle for a reason. It’s round and continuous. But if you get on the wrong cycle path, you can stop yourself from achieving everything you have ever wanted in life.
Sometimes taking detours, or following different paths and breaking cycles, is actually what you need to succeed in every aspect of your life. Only then, can you make informed decisions as to what’s right and feels geat for you.
I took these photos on Thursday 11th of September, as The Tour of Britain cycled past the building where I work in my day job.
Beat redundancy blues – Start living!
Hi everyone
Every so often, I like to share with you, one of my posts from my http://www.quirkybooks.wordpress.com blog, that I think is relevant to you.
I wanted to share this with you because having been made redundant twice myself, I know how hard it can be and how depressing it can feel. Life does throw some spanners in our works and it can be difficult to see the light. In order to feel alive again, we must endevour to get back to living the life that makes us feel alive, regardless of previous circumstances or what works for others. Today is a new day, treat it as a new opportunity to feel alive.
Here is the post:-
Thanks for all of your kind comments and support during this difficult time of my Grandma’s passing. Her funeral was yesterday and it went well considering it was a funeral. I read my entire poem without stumbling on my words. Being quirky, I made sure it was a funeral with a difference. I went around hugging everyone, including the people carrying the coffin, the guy playing the organ, the Funeral Director, the Vicar and all guests. I even had the Birdie Song playing us out of the crematorium. Me and my Grandma used to dance to that together and do the actions.
I used to suffer with depression and thankfully I have been free of it for about two and a half years. I cured myself, and still maintain a good head through sometimes very quirky, unconventional methods. I am well aware that I have to prevent myself from going back to that dreadful place ever again. I believe life is for living, to the fullest. Although my Grandma has passed, in the rest of my life, I am the happiest I have ever been and so grateful to be living a young life. In my mind, I am getting younger and I love it. I believe in order to feel alive, you must start living. Do things that make you feel fantastic, alive, enthusiastic, excited and passionate, over and over again, and never stop. I live in my own quirky magic bubble and so long as I am in that, life is beautiful.
My Grandma loved living a full and active life. Today is a new month and time for me to start living a new life. What wonderful opportunities will come my way? I wonder? After crying a lot this morning, this is the attitude I decided to take and I went to the cinema to feel alive and enjoy a part of my life in that moment.
In my usual quirky Roving Reporter style, here is my review of Maleficent. It is less that one minute long. Enjoy it and let me know what you think.

I am currently working on reformatting the interior of my Break through the barriers of redundancy book. It would seem that the CreateSpace templates have errors in them. One template I had 5 attempts to reformat and I had to scrap each one. Self publishing is hard but I am determined to publish my book.

Monday Inspiration: Defining Creativity
Hi everyone
If you are redundant and are trying to figure out what to do with your time, other than job hunt, why not get creative?
With creativity you can write, draw, paint, do pottery, create music, make things, and set your mind free. You can also add value to your own life and that of others.
Find out more about creativity from the short video below.

If you have never watched anything by Sir Ken Robinson or read any of his books, you’re in for a treat. I have spent entire days watching his talks on TED and YouTube and let’s just say if this great thinker was not already knighted I would have started a petition myself!
This particular short video is on imagination and creativity. In it Sir Ken Robinson reminds us that in order to be creative you have to DO things. There’s no point in saying “I’m creative because I have a wild imagination” and not actually do something about applying your imagination. Dreaming up things = imagination but applying imagination = creativity.
I love hearing from you, leave a comment 🙂
